His decision to turn pro paid off in 1997 when he reached his first final table, finishing fourth in the WSOP $5,000 No Limit Deuce to Seven Draw event, winning $36,500.

2003 marked a breakout year for Barry, as he achieved four major victories, including a $770,000 win at Larry Flynt’s Poker Challenge Cup and further notable victories in the California State Poker Championship and United States Poker Championship. His successful year continued with a $34,200 win at the Tropicana Poker Championship.

In 2004, Barry secured his first WPT Championship title and $1.27 million at the Jack Binion World Poker Open, followed by another WPT win and his first WSOP bracelet.

Barry added two more WSOP bracelets in 2005 and 2008, pushing his total winnings past $8.6 million.
